FARBEON is a Brooklyn-based Hip Hop artist, educator and agent of change. One of the most dynamic voices in New York City Hip Hop, Farbeon’s live-show seamlessly blends the genres of Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz and Spoken Word Poetry to give audiences a rhyme-feuled, soul-driven,experience unlike any other. He has inspired and moved crowds throughout the United States and abroad, touring nationally and internationally twenty times since 2008. He has independently released 5 records and is currentlyworking on his 6th full-length album entitled Canciones de Mis Padres, which is slated to be released in 2018.
With his use of vocal loop stations, effects pedals and live computer production, Farbeon’s solo performance style embodies the free-flowing energy of a live band. A man on a mission to inspire the despondent and educate the unacquainted, Farbeon uses his unique brand of edu-tainment to redefine the traditional Hip Hop show experience. He has shared stages with some of global Hip Hop’s most-renowned acts, including The Roots, Method Man, Talib Kweli, Rob Swift, Planet Asia, Camp-Lo, Black Noise(South Africa), Quilombo'Arte Collective (Mexico/Dominican Rep/USA), Vox Sambou (Haiti/Canada) and Jaro Cossiga (Czech Republic), among many others.
As a DJ, Farbeon is known for open-format stylings that mix Hip Hop, classic-Soul, Funk, Rock, Pop and House music. His ability to read crowds, coupled with his impeccable song selection have been moving audiences to dance since he first started as a college radio DJ in 1998. He has years of experience working on turntables and DJ controllers. He currently organizes two monthly-DJ residencies in NYC, including Groove Classic a monthly DJ dance party located at Sycamore Brooklyn located in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn.
FARBEON dedicates his time behind the camera lens to documenting Hip Hop’s revolutionary urgency and transformational potential. He has had the honor of documenting Hip Hop pioneers, practitioners and fans at concerts, exhibitions, workshops and cipher-jam sessions the world-over. FARBEON has exhibited work in NYC at La Galleria at La MaMa, B.O.B. Bar and alongside pioneering Hip Hop photographer Joe Conzo at the Bronx Music Heritage Center. Farbeon’s photos and writing have been featured both in print and digital media, including in the House of World Cultures (Berlin, DE) publication Translating Hip Hop.
Finally, FARBEON is at the forefront of the Hip Hop/arts-education movement. Since 1999 he has worked to build platforms for young people to take charge of their own personal and professional growth through the arts.He has conducted one-off workshops and multi-session residencies at schools, universities and community centers throughout the United States and abroad, teaching Poetry, Performance, Song-Writing, Photography & Hip-Hop History and Culture. FARBEON is the Founding Director for The Hip Hop Re:Education Project, NYC Project Director for the BronxBerlinConnection and Director of Hip Hop Studies for American Voices. Farbeon has overseen both virtual and real-world cultural exchanges between young Hip Hoppers in NYC, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Berlin, Barcelona, Seoul, Bangkok and Jakarta.
